It's significantly heavier than my old 5S and my girlfriend's S5. Photos always look better from an iPhone or S5.*Heavy. *Although I like the dual camera features and interface, the camera resolution is poor. Although res and DPI are high, color seems dull, and doesn't seem super bright - Both of these things are extra noticeable when held up to an iPhone or S5. I love swiping the black screen to enter the phone.*SD card slot - I have a lot of lossless music, and love being able to take that with me.Cons:*Screen isn't great. It's quality matches that of a small, premium audio dock - AND in stereo. I've never ever played music through a portable device until now. My girlfriend has the S5, and I notice sluggishness on it. I missed texts and calls all the time on my iPhone.*Incredibly smooth performance, maybe the best I've experienced on an Android phone. ![]() Most android phones have LED notification indicators, and that's a huge win. The phone is beautiful and well crafted, even more so than the iPhone in my opinion.*Notification lights. I don't have any scientific evidence, but I'd say the M8's battery lasts about 25% longer - at least. I felt like I was constantly searching for a power outlet with my 5S. Not too big, not too small.*Wonderful battery life. I was lucky enough to win this M8 a couple of weeks ago, and have since switched to this over my 5S as my daily. I'm very glad I made the move to the M8 and plan to stick with it for at least a few years.Īlthough not my 1st Android phone, I had an iPhone 5S before this. A refurbished phone with perfect screen and minimal signs of use for less than $200 won me over. This made my choice on the M8 rather easy. the fact that it is dual 4MP ends up killing appeal for many people, lowering the resale value. I don't really take a lot of photos with my phone, preferring a real camera for photos I plan to save long term or print. The variable focus capability even after a photo has been taken has a strong "cool" factor, but the megapixel result is lacking compared to leading phones today. The only real "draw back" is the camera, where HTC tried to improve upon the dual 4MP lens setup. So I'll buy a cellphone model at a discount, when it has been replaced by a successor (like the M8 by the M9), after enough time has passed to assess the long term ownership by other reviewers. The M8 is a great phone all around. I don't have the patience to deal with glitches and I'd rather spend my money on something else. ![]() The Apple iPhone is amazing, but locks you into Apple's world at extreme cost without SD card expansion (the whole memory scheme with Apple is so predatory to customers, the price per Gb being paid is criminal).I never buy leading edge phones. There isn't one phone that seems to do everything extremely well. There are so many choices in the cellphone market today.
